Trailing Czechoslovakia 4-3 entering the 3rd Period in the Gold Medal Game, the USA hockey team erupts for six goals in the third period to win its first ever hockey gold medal 9-4 on the final day of competition at the 1960 Olympics in Squaw Valley, CA. Leading the charge for the Americans was Roger Christian who netted a 3rd period hat trick.
