Born on September 5, 1916 in Pacolet Mills, South Carolina, Ernie White (Ernest Daniel White) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Braves over the course of his 7 year career. White broke into the bigs on May 9, 1940 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.40 ERA in 210 innings pitched in 1941, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ernie White's best season was 1941, when he posted a 2.40 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 117 batters.
