Born on February 1, 1955 in Salinas, California, Ernie Camacho (Ernest Carlos Camacho) played for the Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 10 year career. Camacho broke into the bigs on May 22, 1980 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 2.43 ERA in 100 innings pitched in 1984, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ernie Camacho's best season was 1984, when he posted a 2.43 ERA and notched 23 saves.
