Born on August 29, 1888 in Hoosick Falls, New York, Ensign Cottrell (Ensign Stover Cottrell) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Braves and New York Yankees over the course of his 5 year career. Cottrell broke into the bigs on June 21, 1911 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
