Emil Verban (Emil Matthew Verban) was born on August 27, 1915 in Lincoln, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 18, 1944 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1944, his rookie year, he hit .257 with 0 home runs and 43 RBI. Verban played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Boston Braves over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that Emil Verban's best season was 1945, when he hit for a .278 average and knocked in 72 runs.
