[edit] Biography

Born on June 10, 1950 in La Vega, La Romana (Dominican Republic), Elias Sosa (Elias (Martinez) Sosa) played for the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Montreal Expos, Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres over the course of his 12 year career. Sosa broke into the bigs on September 8, 1972 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 3.28 ERA in 107 innings pitched in 1973, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Elias Sosa's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1973, when he posted a 3.28 ERA, won 10 games, notched 18 saves and struck out 70 batters. However, others believe that it was 1979, when he posted a 1.96 ERA, notched 18 saves and struck out 59 batters.
