Eli Baby!

Last week there was a lot of talk on armchair about Eli Manning and whether he was a quarterback who could produce in the clutch. Well i think he pretty much answered all those questions in yesterday come from behind victory in Philly. He saved the entire season for the G-Men by pretty much putting the team on his back and carrying them to victory. In the fourth quarter and overtime, Eli threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns. Two plays that stick out in particular was the play where a defender was on his knee and he still managed to throw the ball to Tim Carter downfield for a twenty yard game which led to the last second fg, and of course the last play of the game, where knowing he was going to get blitzed by the eagles he stayed in the pocket showing his poise and threw a perfect pass to Plaxico Burress. Just like last year, Eli is showing if you give him a chance he'll produce. This was one of those rare games that can change the course of a season for a team so it will be interesting to see how the gmen respond next week in Seattle.

Unlike his brother, Eli is showing he knows how to get it done in clutch sitations. He should put up some big numbers this year.

Dude, without that personal foul, its a 50 yard fieldgoal which Feely misses. Giants got lucky

Eagles choked this game away. It wasn't as much Eli winning this game as the Eagles losing it. Take it from someone who watched the game in person in sect. 106 at the Linc.

just like the colts got lucky last week when the refs made a bs call on tim carter. throughout the course of a season many bad calls will be made, what can you do.

My bad, i didnt mean to say giants got lucky. I meant to respond to Patburke's comments about Eli knowing ho to respond in cluthc situations. He didnt respond...if not for a 15 yard personal foul call, the Giants wouldve lost.

what exactly did Eli do? Their defense and/or Plaxico Burress won the game for them. Did he make incredible passes? Did he singlehandedly bring them back when their defense, receivers, and running backs were giving the game away? No, Eli had an average game. In fact, for the most part of the game, he was the reason they were losing. He was overthrowing everything. Then, a combination of some great catches by Burress, good defense, and luck (Westbrook fumble and 15 yard personal foul) brought them back, and then only in Eli's second chance in Overtime did he underthrow a ball which Burress made a great cathc on. What did Eli do?

haha wow, either a) bitter eagles fan or b) jealous jets fan...im gonna go with B

"did he make incredible passes?" - yes

"No, Eli had an average game." - an average NFL QB goes 375 for 3TDs? By the way, if you watched the game (which clearly you didn't, because you were probably too busy digging your crumpled and lipstick covered Chad Pennington posters out of your garage), Eli got sacked 8 times and didnt make any poor decisions despite being rushed every single time. Even his interception wasn't entirely his fault (bounced off tiki right to the reciever)

enjoy going 1-15

1) i am a jets fan, bbut 2) i am not jealous, bc there's no question that the jets are rebuilding this year, and that the giants are supposed to be great this year, so im not jealous over the fact that the giants won a game, they are obviously goign to make the playoffs. ill get jealous if they somehow manage to make it to the superbowl. From the perspective of a jets fan, after wathicng the giants game i thought, "wow, i hope eil plays like this all year, they might actually not make the playoffs then"

if you didn't think Eli played well yesterday, then you must not understand the game too well

Eli played a good game. However without an insane random penalty, and then a hailmary style pass the Giants do not win that game. Also playing in the regular season was never Peyton's problem it was the post season

that last pass wasnt a hailmary style pass. eli read the defense, knew a blitz was coming and therefore burress had one on one coverage on the outside, where he was matched up against a guy who was 8 inches shorter. you may say its a hailmary pass i say its eli show at his best taking what the defense gives him.

i'm a giants fan and i still say they got lucky yesterday. eli wasn't looking horrible, but he wasn't looking that great either. he was sloppy and it wasn't until he finally slowed down in the end that he actually started to really complete easy passes. he was looking pretty poor for a while when he kept under/over throwing everything.

Eli played a great fourth quarter - no doubt about it (and, I am not an Eli fan). But, I have yet to see the defense really play well. I think it was more Andy Reid going conservative than great defense. I mean I am very concerned about the secondary. I actually think Eli will be better than average. But, this defense is way overated. Arrington is done (that knee has slowed him consideraby. Emmons is slow too. I think you will see the secondary shredded each week. I wish it wasn't true... I can't see us doing better than 7-9.
