Eddie Sauer (Edward A. Sauer) was born on November 27, 1898 in Van Buren Township, Ohio. After going to high school at Steele (Dayton, OH), Sauer attended Miami University of Ohio. Sauer made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Dayton Triangles. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Dayton Triangles the entire time. Sauer also played in the NFL for 5 years, playing for the Dayton Triangles and Pottsville Maroons over the course of his 5 year NFL career.
