Born on May 27, 1963 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Ed Nunez (Edwin (Martinez) Nunez) played for the Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 13 year career. Nunez broke into the bigs on April 7, 1982 with the Seattle Mariners, and put up a 3.19 ERA in 67.2 innings pitched in 1984, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ed Nunez's best season was 1985, when he posted a 3.09 ERA, notched 16 saves and struck out 58 batters.
