Born on February 21, 1875 in Oskaloosa, Kansas, Dummy Taylor (Luther Haden Taylor) played for the New York Giants and Cleveland Broncos over the course of his 9 year career. Taylor broke into the bigs on August 27, 1900 with the New York Giants, and put up a 2.45 ERA in 62.1 innings pitched in 1900, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dummy Taylor's best season was 1904, when he posted a 2.34 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 138 batters.
