Doug Baird (Howard Douglas Baird) was born on September 27, 1891 in St. Charles, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 18, 1915 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1915, his rookie year, he hit .219 with 1 home run and 53 RBI. Baird played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Robins and New York Giants over the course of his 6 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Doug Baird's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1917, when he stole 26 bases. However, others believe that it was 1915, when he stole 29 bases and knocked in 53 runs.
