Don Slaught (Donald Martin Slaught) was born on September 11, 1958 in Long Beach, California. He made his Major League debut on July 6, 1982 for the Kansas City Royals. In 1983, his rookie year, he hit .312 with 0 home runs and 28 RBI. Slaught played for the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox, California Angels and San Diego Padres over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that Don Slaught's best season was 1993, when he hit for a .300 average and knocked in 55 runs.

A veteran of 16 seasons at the major league level as a catcher, he was named the Tigers hitting coach on October 11, 2005, his first professional coaching position...Most recently served as President of RightView Pro, a baseball and softball training software company...Played on four division-winning clubs during his major league career: Kansas City Royals in 1984 and Pittsburgh Pirates for three straight seasons 1990-92...Graduated from Rolling Hills High School in California in 1976, where he played baseball and football...Earned a degree in economics from UCLA...was the captain of the Bruins baseball team and earned All- Pacific-10 honors as a junior and senior...was an Academic All-American in 1979 and Second-Team Sporting News All-American in 1980.
