Don Gutteridge (Donald Joseph Gutteridge) was born on June 19, 1912 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1936 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .271 with 7 home runs and 61 RBI. Gutteridge played for the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Browns and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Don Gutteridge's best season was 1942, when he knocked in 50 runs.
