Born on March 13, 1931 in Jacksonville, Florida, Don Bessent (Fred Donald Bessent) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 4 year career. Bessent broke into the bigs on July 17, 1955 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 2.70 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Don Bessent's best season was 1956, when he posted a 2.50 ERA and struck out 52 batters.
