Doc Nance (William Gideon Nance) was born on August 2, 1876 in Fort Worth, Texas. He made his Major League debut on August 19, 1897 for the Louisville Colonels. In 1901, his rookie year, he hit .280 with 3 home runs and 66 RBI. Nance played for the Louisville Colonels and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 3 year career.
