Dick Higham (Richard Higham) was born on July 24, 1851 in Ipswich, England. He made his Major League debut on June 1, 1871 for the New York Mutuals. In 1872, his rookie year, he hit .343 with 2 home runs and 37 RBI. Higham played for the New York Mutuals, Baltimore Canaries, Chicago White Stockings, Hartford Dark Blues, Providence Grays and Troy Trojans over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Dick Higham's best season was 1876, when he hit for a .327 average.
