[edit] Biography

Born on June 1, 1973 in Dearborn, Michigan, Derek Lowe (Derek Christopher Lowe) played for the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 10 year career. Lowe broke into the bigs on April 26, 1997 with the Seattle Mariners, and put up a 6.13 ERA in 69 innings pitched in 1997, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Derek Lowe's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2000, when he posted a 2.56 ERA, notched 42 saves and struck out 79 batters. However, others believe that it was 2002, when he posted a 2.58 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 127 batters.
