Dear Mr. Vick,
You are going to prison. I hope you are aware of this, because at this point it is not a question of if but a question of “for how long”. You did some things that are reprehensible and because of that you will end up sitting in a cell with a guy named Mindy for a while.
You plead guilty as part of a deal to keep you from going away for a long time. That’s fine. But you are still up for years, which will be decided on December 10 th. Yesterday (Tuesday September, 25 th) you were also was indicted on state charges of “beating or killing or causing dogs to fight other dogs and engaging in or promoting dogfighting.” Each is a felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison.
When you were first arrested for this the question that was asked was: “Will he ever play football again,” which is an understandable query seeing as how you are a sports star. But you are not above the law, and you will soon see that you are not above the law.
You were also just pegged for marijuana use which has caused you to be on house arrest from 10PM to 6AM and wear an ankle bracelet. Nice job, Mike. I mean, I don’t blame you. You probably needed to take the edge off after all of the court rooms and the fear that another woman with Herpes might come looking for Mr. Ron Mexico.
I guess that everything is coming so fast and you are probably scared, but don’t be. Why? Because you are famous. People love you. Even though you killed animals, which to me is right up at the top of the list when it comes to reprehensible acts. It is located right above “DUI Hit and Runs” and below “Child Molestation”. And I hope that Mindy feels the same.
I didn’t write this to reprimand you, I did it to make you think that you didn’t just kill helpless dogs; you killed your own reputation. You killed the trust that people had for you. You killed any sort of role model ideal that you may foster. You killed a lot of people’s views of you.
What about the guy who gave you a reference for your resume? This affects him. The college coach that told the Falcons you were worth it? He’s affected. The kid who owns your jersey, the guy who has your autographed ball, the old man who has had season tickets since he can remember. What you did was not just stupid; it was selfish.
So, I will leave you with two things:
•1) Don’t think for a second that you will get off easy because of your celebrity status. Instead, realize that more then likely you will be made an example of. And,
•2) Where are you and Mindy registered? I would love to get you a nice gravy boat.
Sincerely,
The Team at The Hoch
