Dave Beard

Born on October 2, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia, Dave Beard (Charles David Beard) played for the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 7 year career. Beard broke into the bigs on July 16, 1980 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 3.44 ERA in 91.2 innings pitched in 1982, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Dave Beard's best season was 1982, when he posted a 3.44 ERA, won 10 games, notched 11 saves and struck out 73 batters.
