Born on February 14, 1975 in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Damaso Marte (Damaso (Sabinon) Marte) played for the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 7 year career. Marte broke into the bigs on June 30, 1999 with the Seattle Mariners, and put up a 2.83 ERA in 60.1 innings pitched in 2002, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Damaso Marte's best season was 2003, when he posted a 1.58 ERA, notched 11 saves and struck out 87 batters.
