Born on July 6, 1908 in Waurika, Oklahoma, Cy Blanton (Darrell Elijah Blanton) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 9 year career. Blanton broke into the bigs on September 23, 1934 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 2.58 ERA in 254.1 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Cy Blanton's best season was 1935, when he posted a 2.58 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 142 batters.
