Craig Heyward (Craig William Heyward) was born on September 26, 1966 in Passaic, New Jersey. After going to high school at Passaic (NJ), Heyward attended the University of Pittsburgh. Heyward made his professional debut in the NFL in 1988 with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1995 was Craig Heyward's best year, as he ran for 1083 yards, ran in 6 TDs and hauled in 37 receptions. It was also the year Heyward would be selected to the Pro Bowl for the only time in his career.

Heyward was known as "Iron Head", a huge man who was rumored to weigh as much as 340 pounds in his playing days.

Heyward had suffered a Chordoma tumor in 1998. After endless operation and radiation treatments, Heyward was tumor free. Sadly, it reappeared in 2005, and on May 27th, 2006, Craig Heyward died at the age of 39.
