Born on August 23, 1874 in Golden, Colorado, Cowboy Jones (Albert Edward Jones) played for the Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Perfectos and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 4 year career. Jones broke into the bigs on June 24, 1898 with the Cleveland Spiders, and put up a 3.00 ERA in 72 innings pitched in 1898, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Cowboy Jones's best season was 1900, when he posted a 3.57 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 68 batters.
