[edit] Biography

Jon Corey Hart was born on March 24, 1982 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is the starting right fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers. Standing at 6'6", Hart isn't a prototypical outfielder. He has played third and first base in his career but was moved to outfield because of defensive problems as an infielder. As an outfielder, Hart has blossomed into one of the premier young outfielders in the majors, showing off a very impressive arm in the field, power and the plate, and speed on the base paths.

[edit] Biography

[edit] Minors

Drafted in the 11th round of the 2000 June amateur draft, Hart spent two years in Rookie ball while transitioning from first base to third base. He batted .316 between the two season with 13 home runs and 92 runs batted in.

In 2002, Hart was moved to High A where he sported a batting average of .288 and hit 22 home runs and drove in 84 runs in 100 games before being promoted to Double-A. In 22 games with the Huntsville Stars, Hart hit .266 with two homers and 15 RBIs.

In 2003, Hart spent the year exclusively with the Stars. He hit .302 with 13 home runs and 94 RBIs while stealing 25 bases, earning himself a promotion to Triple-A the next season.

During the season, he was finally called up to Milwaukee and made his major league debut on May 25, 2004 but only got one at bat in his short stint. He showed off his above average power by hitting a towering drive to left field...that landed just foul. He then struck out, but Corey Hart's loud strike one ignited the anticipation for the young wave of talent that was headed to Milwaukee.

Hart was subsequently sent back down to the minors, and spent the next year there before being finally being called back up over a year later, on August 14, 2005 and finished out the year with the Brewers.

[edit] Majors

[edit] 2006

Hart began the 2006 season in Nashville with the Triple-A team and hit .320 in 26 games. Hart was called up to the majors for the final time to help provide the Brewers with another outfield option. He was given the starting right field role after struggling veteran Geoff Jenkins was benched.

He finished the season with a .283 batting average with nine home runs and 33 RBIs in 87 games with the Brewers.

[edit] 2007

During spring training it was announced that Hart would be a part of a three-man platoon for the corner outfield positions with Jenkins and Kevin Mench, but after Rickie Weeks went on the disabled list, Hart was moved to the leadoff position. During the month of June, Hart batted .336 with nine home runs and 21 RBIs from the leadoff spot.

[edit] Scouting Report

Hart will never look as athletic as he really is, but in reality he is an extremely well-rounded ball player. He can hit for power, hit for average, and he was timed as the fastest Brewer to run a 60-yard dash in Spring Training.
