What was it that Carlos Zambrano said about how the Brewers aren't as good as Cincinnati? Something about how Milwaukee has no hitting?

Well, something was certainly motivating the Milwaukee Brewers at the plate, as they outhit the Chicago Cubs, 13-6, and more importantly, outscored them 9-4. Each of the starting nine for Milwaukee got a hit, including pitcher Chris Capuano, who had an RBI single.

First, Milwaukee jumped out to 4-0 lead in the second on the strength of back-to-back home runs from Geoff Jenkins and Gabe Gross. (Interesting note: the Crew has homered in all six of their games so far, and Jenkins is the only player with more than one). They added two more in the fifth to make it 6-0. In the top of the sixth, Capuano, who had pitched five solid innings of one-hit ball, started to sputter and was pulled in the midst of a four-run Cubs rally. But the Brewer bullpen came through and finished the game cleanly. It also helped that Craig Counsell put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth with a bases-loaded triple to make it 9-4.

The Brewers get themselves back to even at 3-3. Chris Capuano (1-0, 4.35) gets the win. The Cubs fall back to even at 3-3. Wade Miller (0-1, 13.50), usually a Brewer killer - especially at Miller Park - gets the loss.

Up next for the Brewers is a road trip, starting with a three game series against the Florida Marlins. Up next for the Cubs a homestand, starting with a three game set against the Houston Astros.
