Chet Johnston (Chester Arthur Johnston) was born on March 7, 1910 in Appleton, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Appleton (WI), Johnston attended Elmhurst College, Marquette University and the University of Miami. Johnston made his professional debut in the NFL in 1934 with the Green Bay Packers. He played for the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1939 was Chet Johnston's best year.
