Charlie Sumner (Charles Edward Sumner) was born on October 19, 1930 in Radford, Virginia. After going to high school at Dublin (VA), Sumner attended The College of William & Mary. Sumner made his professional debut in the NFL in 1955 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1955 was Charlie Sumner's best year, as he picked off 7 passes.
