Charley Johnson (Charles Lane Johnson) was born on November 22, 1938 in Big Spring, Texas. After going to high school at Big Spring (TX), Johnson attended New Mexico State University and Schreiner University. Johnson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1961 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Houston Oilers over the course of his 15 year career.
Most people believe that 1963 was Charley Johnson's best year, as he threw for 3280 yards and tossed 28 TDs.
