Charley Armstrong (Charles Andrew Armstrong) was born on April 20, 1919 in Hickory, Mississippi. After going to high school at Newton (MS), Armstrong attended Mississippi College. Armstrong made his professional debut in the NFL in 1941 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Chicago Cardinals the entire time. Armstrong also played in the AAFC for 1 year, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers the entire time.

Most people believe that 1946 was Charley Armstrong's best year.
