You can put all the Pete Carroll to San Diego rumors to bed now. It doesn't appear as if the Chargers are going to interview Carroll at all and that probably won't bother him to say the least.
Earlier this week, Carroll refused to comment about the Chargers job, increasing speculation that something could be in the works. But on Thursday, Carroll put all of those rumors to bed, as he said that his silence wasn't any sort of indication that he could be lured to San Diego.
Carroll told the media, "I just got tired of answering questions about the NFL, because there's always a follow-up question from (the media), no matter what I say, so I decided I wouldn't say anything,. I wasn't looking at it. I like where I'm at. I'm not going anywhere.
Sources indicated there was some sort of communication between the Chargers and Carroll earlier this week, but Carroll said he was never interested.
What probably halted any sort of talks was over personnel control. Last season, the Chargers' front office was in chaos due to the feudng between General Manager A.J. Smith and Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer. So, it wouldn't appear likely that Carroll would have been granted any front office duties if he was named Head Coach.
