Candace Parker
[edit] BiographyCandace Parker was born on April 19, 1986, in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Ill., and graduated in 2004. While in high school, Parker led her basketball team to state titles in 2003 and 2004. Parker attended college at the University of Tennessee. Forced to redshirt her first year with the team due to a knee injury, Parker led the Lady Vols to the SEC tournament champshionship in her first year of play (2006). She was the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game and the first woman to dunk twice in a college game — she set both milestones on March 19, 2006. After losing to North Carolina in the NCAA tournament regional finals in 2006, Parker led the Lady Vols to back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. She elected to forego her final year of college eligibility and declared for the 2008 draft. Parker was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks with the first pick of the 2008 draft.
