Calvin McCarty
[edit] BiographyCollege Majored in Communications. He attended high school at St. Thomas More Collegiate in Burnaby, BC. Growing up he also played basketball and baseball. He represented Canada in the 2001 Big League World Series where the team placed third. His mother, Jackie Conway, played softball at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and his father, Orlando, played basketball at Oklahoma’s Bacone College and Southeastern Oklahoma State. His sister, Tiffany Conway, played softball at McPherson College in Kansas. Playing for the Western Washington Vikings McCarty started the first seven games in 2006 before suffering a season-ending foot fracture. The Burnaby, BC native was a second-team North Central Conference all-star and was ranked fifth among NCC rushing leaders with 492 yards and 5 touchdowns on 130 carries. He also caught 30 passes for 278 yards. Pro Selected in the fourth round (27th overall) by Edmonton in the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft.McCarty played in 18 games his rookie season, rushing six times for 13 yards and making seven receptions for 99 yards, including a spectacular touchdown catch vs. Saskatchewan on October 26. He was also a stand-out on special teams, recording five tackles.
