C.L. Whittington (Columbus Lorenzo Whittington) was born on August 1, 1952 in Beaumont, Texas. After going to high school at Charlton-Pollard (Beaumont, TX), Whittington attended Prairie View A&M University. Whittington made his professional debut in the NFL in 1974 with the Houston Oilers. He played for the Houston Oilers for his entire 4 year career.
Most people believe that 1976 was C.L. Whittington's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
