Born on March 6, 1924 in Curlew, Washington, Bud Podbielan (Clarence Anthony Podbielan) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 9 year career. Podbielan broke into the bigs on April 25, 1949 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 5.33 ERA in 72.2 innings pitched in 1950, his rookie year.
