Born on October 26, 1920 in Webster Groves, Missouri, Bud Byerly (Eldred William Byerly) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants over the course of his 11 year career. Byerly broke into the bigs on September 26, 1943 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 4.74 ERA in 95 innings pitched in 1945, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bud Byerly's best season was 1957, when he posted a 3.13 ERA.
