Born on April 19, 1909 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bucky Walters (William Henry Walters) played for the Boston Braves, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 19 year career. Walters broke into the bigs on September 18, 1931 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 4.17 ERA in 151 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bucky Walters's best season was 1939, when he posted a 2.29 ERA, won 27 games and struck out 137 batters.
