Buck Martinez (John Albert Martinez) was born on November 7, 1948 in Redding, California. He made his Major League debut on June 18, 1969 for the Kansas City Royals. In 1969, his rookie year, he hit .229 with 4 home runs and 23 RBI. Martinez played for the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays over the course of his 17 year career.
