Born on September 12, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama, Bubba Church (Emory Nicholas Church) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 6 year career. Church broke into the bigs on April 30, 1950 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.73 ERA in 142 innings pitched in 1950, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bubba Church's best season was 1951, when he posted a 3.53 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 104 batters.
