Bruins Trade Samsonov

14
Vote

The Boston Bruins traded Sergei Samsonov to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Boston will get centers Marty Reasoner and Yan Stastny and a second-round pick in this year's draft.

Samsonov was sent to the Oilers just before the NHL's trade deadline and before the Bruins' game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. Reasoner and Stastny were not in town in time for the game.

Branch Rickey: "Trade a player a year too early rather than a year too late." Boston could have gotten way more for this guy two years ago.

Samsanov still has a ton of potential, and his career could be rejuvenated with this move. Boston is definitely in rebuilding mode, having traded away their best player and one of the best all around players in Joe Thornton earlier in the year. My only concern is that they are rebuilding by trading away young talent. They bettter be able to do something with these players and draftpicks or else Boston faithful won't be happy.

First of all, I never post about hockey here because I know you knownothings know nothing. Hockey is the greatest sport!!! Samsonov and Thorton were supposed to return the Bruins to the promised land and I don't think they ever got out of the 1st round. Now Boston has very little to show for it. They are a very poorly managed team. but no worries, I hear they might hire Isiah Thomas!

Hockey is the greatest sport (or at least top 4 with baseball basketball and football)Boston is poorly managed, and they gave up on Thornton and Samsonov way too early. With the new style of open hockey, a speedster like Samsonov should have been able to thrive. The only problem is he's got a case of the Kovalevs-- tons of talent but likes to hold the puck and fake all five players out 12 times until he shoots. Kovalev thrived when he left the media spotlight of NY and sucked agian when he came back. Maybe being shipped to the world's anus of a city like Edmonton will help him resurrect himself (like moving to US's anus Pittsburgh helped Kovalev). Thornton is having a great season for the surprising Sharks, leading the league in assists and top 5 in points. P.S. All Knicks fans would chip in 20 bucks a person if Boston would take Isaiah Thomas.

What the Bruins really need to rebuild is the ownership.
