Bruce Gossett (Daniel Bruce Gossett) was born on November 9, 1941 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Cecil Township (PA), Gossett attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Duquesne University, Ferrum JC and the University of Richmond. Gossett made his professional debut in the NFL in 1964 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1973 was Bruce Gossett's best year, as he made 26 field goals.
