The NFL Free Agent signing period is barely under way, but according to sources, including the Associated Press, the Cleveland Browns have already agreed to a seven-year, $49.5 million deal with offensive lineman Eric Steinbach. Steinbach spent the past four seasons playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. The source says he'll sign the contract once he passes a physical.
This marks the second straight year the Browns have addressed their offensive line issues by signing the top available free agent. Steinbach was listed number three on the overall free agent list.
Last off-season, the club gave a six-year, $36 million contract to Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley, who suffered a career-threatening knee injury early in training camp.
