Browns Address Offensive Line Woes With Steinbach

8
Vote

The NFL Free Agent signing period is barely under way, but according to sources, including the Associated Press, the Cleveland Browns have already agreed to a seven-year, $49.5 million deal with offensive lineman Eric Steinbach.   Steinbach spent the past four seasons playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. The source says he'll sign the contract once he passes a physical.

This marks the second straight year the Browns have addressed their offensive line issues by signing the top available free agent. Steinbach was listed number three on the overall free agent list.

Last off-season, the club gave a six-year, $36 million contract to Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley, who suffered a career-threatening knee injury early in training camp.

I wonder what it's like to sign a contract knowing you'll get 17 million guarenteed, but you'll be facing a career-ending(maybe life-ending) injured within five months... Ah the gamble of signing with the Browns...

I have to think this signing is to help justify taking Adrian Peterson with the #3 pick instead of drafting O-line.

I knew the browns were bad, but not so bad that .5000 is unrealistic

Actually they're not that bad. Last season they would have been at .500 if it weren't for all their injuries.

Get a good running game and it'll give Frye a better chance for success. Or take Brady Quinn?

It's kinda hard for them when they have 3 Playoff Contenders ahead of them, as it is in the AFC West, and NFC East, and as it will be this year in the AFC South

The best shot the Browns have at the playoffs is to trade for the NFC.
