Brett Favre: Still one of the best!!

Yesterday Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre got his 420th passing TD, tying Dan Marino for most all-time. Last week, it was career win number 149, passing John Elway for #1. It's quite amazing how many records he probably will end up having by the time his career is over and what those numbers will be.

Yet, people still doubt him. We hear it all the time. "He's too old." "His legs can't go anymore." "His heart isn't in it." "He can't help make a team win."

Well I guess they are right in some way. He is 37 years old. I mean, the guy can't lead a team to victory at that age. He probably can't even throw for 861 yards, pass for 6 TD, and only throw 2 INT for 3 weeks of the season all while leading the Packers to 3-0. And he probably won't celebrate with his teammates after every passing TD. He won't run to the endzone or do a lambeau leap or even leap onto an offensive lineman as he likes to. Nope, his heart isn't in it. He's now just as boring as Peyton Manning or even Marvin Harrison.

People say "Bring in Aaron Rodgers. It's time for the new era!" Nobody wants to see the old guy anymore. People believe Rodgers will give them more of a chance. A guy with 150 wins isn't enough to lead a team to victory. He's only #1 all-time in wins. Nope! The guy who has 0 career starts is the Packers' best chance at even getting a wild card. Makes sense. I mean, he was a 1st round draft pick. 1st round draft picks do good in their NFL careers; Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Joey Harrington, Rex Grossman, Ryan Leaf. Yeah, hey, Rodgers can be good right? He's only played 8 games, 0 TD, 1 INT, and a 44.9 passer rating but he can still lead us to victory. But the guy with 150 wins oh no, he's just the greatest all-time in that, he can't possibly do it!

It's only a matter of time before the Packers can start being a contending team. We just have to wait until one of the greatest QBs is gone and our new era can begin; the era of Superbowls! But to be fair, Rodgers haven't really played all that much. Then again so hasn't Rex Grossman when he "officially" began his NFL career last year. I mean he's so good, they now want him out! The Bears fans want to put in an old guy, Brian Griese. That's strange, I thought old guys can't play. I thought we should bring in a new era of football. I mean Grossman was a first round pick. Again, 1st rounders do good in the NFL. Yet, they want to put in an old guy! Old guys aren't supposed to play, are they? Nah, they suck!! And so does the guy with the most career wins and soon to be the most career passing TDs.

But hey who am I talking? I'm just an average Green Bay Packers/NFL fan. I'm no expert, no radio host, no TV personality. I'm just a guy who belongs on the couch, to just watch a sports game and let the other guys do the talking.

If Peyton and Marvin are boring, I'll take being bored every day.

they're effective, but rarely explosive. Marvin more that Peyton, but Peyton is rarely the type of player that you see on the Sports Center top 10 players.

and both should be in the HOF when its said and done. Just thought I'd add that on so it didn't sound like I was bashing them, cuz I'm not

In Chicago, if you were Lovie Smith, honestly, would YOU stick with Rex Grossman after his sad start to the year?

I don't question the greatness of Favre. I was there questioning the trade of a first round pick for a second round drunk in the first place, but not anymore. I was proven wrong.

The reason for this comment is that you need to include the fact that Favre is second in the NFL in pass attempts this season with 125 (Brees has 130, Palmer 125). That is 10% more than anyone else. The many attempts helps his numbers.

I am very concerned his arm or legs will fatigue before the Packers get the opportunity to make a playoff push unless they establish a running game to save on Favre's durability.

Hilarious pic!, Afraid. How about this criticism? He hasn't won anything in a dozen years. He holds his team hostage every summer, and then returns to cry and whine about not signing enough players to prop him up for another season.

Exactly! They're work in the draft is different when he is for shure coming back. If they had know he would still be here do you think the Pack would have taken rodgers? Or maybe a TE like Heath Miller? Or a CB like Marlin Jackson? There were solid WR on the board...he has been the reason the team hasn't succeeded as much as anyone else.
