[edit] BiographyAcquired: Signed as a free agent October 2001 2006: A season to remember for the six-year Lion as he rolled through opposition defenses on his way to a league-leading 16 sacks over 18 regular season games. The CFL’s selection as the Outstanding Defensive Player and Outstanding Canadian led a dominant defensive unit and added a West Division and CFL All-Star selection to his list of accomplishments. Johnson also tallied 22 defensive tackles, three TFL, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two touchdown receptions. 2005: Started all 18 regular season games for the Lions at defensive end recording a CFL-leading 17 sacks while ranking second in the CFL with 5 fumble recoveries. Named to the CFL All-Star team and received the Most Outstanding Canadian Player Award (only the fourth Lion to receive the award in team history). 2004: Named to the West Division All-Star Team after a year in which he set a then career-high with 10 sacks and knocked down 5 passes. Named CFL Lineman of the Month for September 2004 and Lineman of the Week for Week #11. Notable: Brent has put together outstanding back-to-back seasons leading the CFL in sacks and winning three major CFL awards as well as repeat appearances on the CFL and West All-Star teams. Before the 2006 season, Brent had increased his sack total in each of his five previous seasons and has not missed a game since joining the Lions late in the 2001 season. College: Johnson played his college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning both the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. During his senior year in 2000, he was named to the All-Big 10 team. In addition, he made Ohio State's Dean's List for academic excellence. Personal: Johnson grew up idolizing hockey player Paul Coffey before ultimately dedicating himself to football. He now lists his favourite athletes as the late linebacker Derrick Thomas and retired linebacker Chris Spielman. When not playing football, Johnson enjoys playing hockey and the guitar, snowboarding, and going to the beach. Johnson is involved with the BC Children's Hospital in addition to other Lions charitable endeavors and community programs. A native of Kingston, Ontario, Johnson lives in Vancouver with his girlfriend, Lara.
