Brees a Saint?

It looks like the Saints are making a big push for Drew Brees. If the Saints were to sign him, how much better would it make the Saints and how would it affect the Chargers? I think this immediately make the Saints better. Going from Aaron Brooks to Drew Brees is like night and day. The Saints do have other needs to address, but an offense featuring Brees, Deuce McAllister, and Joe Horn could be pretty good. For the Chargers, I think it's a step back. Philip Rivers is completely unproven. When you have a proven QB like Brees and gamble on Rivers, it's a risk that shouldn't be taken. I could see the Chargers taking a step back next year and missing the playoffs again.

i haven't really paid attention to what happened to brees, but i dont know why the chargers didnt do everything in their power to keep him...with him, they have a top notch offense

More interesting is what would this do to the draft. Bush would go 1, but who would go 2? Common knowledge has been Leinart but if Brees goes to NO do the Saints take D'Brick? If so, the Titans would take either Leinart or Young leaving the Jets with a serious dilemna!

By getting Brees, the Saints could focus on drafting for their defense or the OL line in the draft. D'Brick would be the smartest pick. I wouldn't be surprised if they traded to a QB needy team.
