Brees Likely Free Agent

7
Vote

Drew Brees will most likely becomes a free agent. San Diego Chargers general manager AJ Smith stated that the Chargers and Brees's agent failed to reach a long-term deal. Smith also noted that the Chargers will not use the franchise tag on the injured QB. Time still remains for the two sides to reach an agreement. Brees officially becomes a free agent on March 3, 2006.

If the Chargers fail to sign Brees, they will likely look to Philip Rivers as their starter next season.

For a team that barely missed the playoffs, why would you start over? Brees is good, it doesn't make sense to just let him walk.

If you date a supermodel and drive a Porsche, men and women alike will think much more of you, but your family probably won't. Brees has gotten too much credit for LT and his offensive line, and his organization knows it.

Chargers sign Favre for one year, and everyone walks away with rings. The defense is awesome, the running game is a self-propelled machine, and the TE is diesel with hands. The only question marks are the QB and receiving corps, which usually have a complementary relationship. Brees should be gone with the wind.
