Biography[]

Born on May 24, 1978 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Brad Penny (Bradley Wayne Penny) played for the Florida Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 7 year career. Penny broke into the bigs on April 7, 2000 with the Florida Marlins, and put up a 4.81 ERA in 119.2 innings pitched in 2000, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Brad Penny's best season was 2006, when he posted a 4.33 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 148 batters.

Scouting Report[]

Pitching
Penny is pure power, relying mostly on a four-seam fastball that registers regularly in the mid-90s. He also throws a sinking two-seamer in the 92-MPH range and a power curveball that buckles knees. His command has improved as he has matured. He does not appear to be in the best of shape, however, so he can wear down as his pitch count rises.

Defense
Penny does not get off the mound very well and can get a bit flustered on the tougher plays. His move is poor, and he takes a while to unleash the pitch.

Most Known For
Penny won 2 games (Games 1 and 5) for the Marlins in the 2003 World Series against the Yankees.
