Bobby Berns (William Jennings Berns) was born on December 10, 1895 in Linton, Indiana. Berns attended Purdue University. Berns made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Muncie Flyers. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Muncie Flyers the entire time. Berns also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Dayton Triangles the entire time.
