Bob Schmitz (Robert Joseph Schmitz) was born on September 10, 1938 in Marytown, Wisconsin. After going to high school at New Holstein (WI), Schmitz attended Montana State University and the University of Wisconsin. Schmitz made his professional debut in the NFL in 1961 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for his entire 6 year career.
Most people believe that 1962 was Bob Schmitz's best year, as he picked off 3 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
