Bob Melvin (Robert Paul Melvin) was born on October 28, 1961 in Palo Alto, California. He made his Major League debut on May 25, 1985 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1986, his rookie year, he hit .224 with 5 home runs and 25 RBI. Melvin played for the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 10 year career.
