Bob Gilks (Robert James Gilks) was born on July 2, 1864 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on August 25, 1887 for the Cleveland Spiders. In 1888, his rookie year, he hit .229 with 1 home run and 63 RBI. Gilks played for the Cleveland Spiders and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Bob Gilks's best season was 1888, when he knocked in 63 runs.
